The idea of ​​celebrating Mother’s Day

The idea of ​​celebrating Mother’s Day arose at the hands of the American Anna Jarvis in the early twentieth century, as she struggled a great deal to obtain approval to generalize this day as an occasion to celebrate the mother across America.

I'm Jarvis successful in 1907, when she persuaded the governor of Virginia to order his first Mother's Day celebration.

A year later, Anna Jarvis demanded the adoption, on May 12, of an official Mother's Day event recognized in various parts of the United States, and in 1912 established the International Mother's Day Association to be able to generalize this.

Despite her success in 1914, she was disappointed in the 1920s because they stated that she did this for the sake of trade.

And I called Jarvis to use the term "mother's" in the English language to urge all families to honor their mothers and all mothers in the world.

This term began to be used by President of the United States Woodrow Wilson in law as an official holiday in the United States, where the "Mother's Day" was recognized by the US Congress, and then by many Presidents in their declarations focusing on Mother's Day.

After that, most countries derived Mother's Day from the holidays that appeared in the United States, but each country transferred the celebration of the holiday within its cultural heritage and linked it to various events, whether historical, religious or legendary.

In the mid-nineteenth century, the ritual process of offering greeting cards to mothers and grandmothers began around the world, and after that, the phenomenon of giving flowers to mothers spread, until Mother's Day became known in its current form, with children giving gifts to their mothers.

As for Mother’s Day in the Arab region, it was launched from Egypt with an idea presented by the two brothers, journalists Mustafa and Ali Amin, that a specific day should be devoted to celebrating Mother’s Day, and it was suggested on March 21 for this celebration, especially as it coincides with the beginning of the spring
